Word Wednesday
“In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.” -Hebrews 5:12-14 (NIV)
As Christians, spiritual maturity is necessary as we walk out our journey on earth. Many adult Christians, who know the Lord from their childhood Sunday school perspectives, choose to live knowing the basics of Christianity. Some even doubt what they learned in Sunday school is true. They acknowledge God has the whole world in his hand but deny Jesus is Lord. This thinking is keeping so many away from true relationship with God. As a result, they are living in darkness, which leads to destruction. Satan knows God’s will is great for us so he will do and use anything and anyone to distract us; even our minimal knowledge of Christianity.
Today, I encourage you to go beyond the basics and intentionally seek, study and understand God’s word, which is the solid food required to walk in righteousness. Fight to stay connected to God by developing a prayer life and attending church and Bible Study regularly, where they teach from the Holy Bible. When you apply the teachings to your life, in the pursuit of living righteous, you will become stronger in your relationship with God; then you will begin to determine good from evil.
Be Blessed.
